The Evia Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Evia Hotel Association and coordinated by Evia Adventure Tours, in a joint initiative to establish Evia’s tourism product, co-organized a seminar to promote local companies offering alternative activities, visitable wineries, and other tourism-related establishments.
This initiative, which aspires to actively support the actions of members involved in the tourism sector, was implemented in the form of a seminar and B2B meetings between hoteliers, owners of tourist accommodations, and travel agents with activity providers or visitable establishments.
The seminar took place on February 20 at the Lucy Hotel in Chalkida, with the aim of encouraging cooperation between local alternative tourism companies and hotels, tourist accommodations, and visitable establishments in the region. The goal was to create attractive and competitive tourism packages that would strengthen the position of Evia and Skyros on the tourism map.
The seminar speakers included Mr. Haris Brousalian from Greek Travel Pages, Ms. Tatiana Rokou, journalist and president of NATTOUR, Mr. Ioannis Lagos from the Menalon Trail, and Ms. Sissy Nika, gastronomy and tourism journalist.
The president of the Evia Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Paraskevi Agiostratiti, delivered a brief greeting.
Mr. Brousalian spoke about content creation for the promotion of tourism businesses through online media, providing methods and examples.
Ms. Rokou discussed outdoor adventure tourism, the profile of the alternative visitor, what they seek, the types of accommodations they prefer, and the activities ideal for creating multi-day packages.
Mr. Lagos gave an extensive presentation on the impact of creating organized hiking networks in the region, such as “From Port to Port.” For example, a visitor could hike from Eretria to the port of Kymi and from there reach Skyros. He also explained why hikers visit a destination and how they contribute to the extension of the tourism season.
Finally, Ms. Sissy Nika highlighted the importance of gastronomy in creating a region’s identity and enhancing the local economy by promoting local cuisine and traditional dishes.
The event continued with presentations from wineries, visitable farms, and other establishments, as well as activity providers.
