The “Bike Friendly” Label is an initiative of AMKE NatTour, which aims to promote sustainability in tourism and the mobility of tourists and citizens, as well as the development of alternative forms of tourism, giving priority to the use of bicycles and cycling tourism. In this context, NatTour, since 2016, has contributed to the formation and promotion of a bike friendly network of destinations and businesses in Greece. The certified members of the network (135 hotels, 8 municipalities-destinations, 60 cycling companies-tourist offices) actively contribute to the service of visitors and citizens who wish to use the bicycle during their holidays and for their daily commutes. It is noting that the “Bike Friendly” Label is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Environment & Energy and the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport. EuroVelo aims to design a comprehensive cycling network connecting European countries, to record existing or create new cycle-friendly routes and to integrate them into a recorded and now unified European network, which currently includes more than 45,000 kilometers of cycling routes, while thousands of additional kilometers are planned to join the network, which, when completed, is estimated to exceed 70,000 km.

The objectives of the European Cyclists’ Federation through EuroVelo are:

On the one hand, ensuring a single European network of cycle routes of a high level of planning and implementation, which will connect the countries of Europe safely, so as to encourage citizens to use a healthy means of transport, such as the bicycle, in their daily lives, but and in their travels. On the other hand, informing the decision-makers in the decision-making centers about the existence of these routes, so that they are used by as many users as possible, which will strengthen the market sectors related to the object.
