The Deputy Mayor of Tourism for Chios, Giorgos Christakis, is promoting sustainable tourism through new initiatives, international activities, and the strengthening of domestic tourism.
Mr. Christakis discusses the strategies of the new municipal administration for promoting tourism on the island, emphasizing the importance of continuing the successful initiatives of his predecessor and introducing new, modern ideas. He aims to extend the tourist season, strengthen domestic tourism, and promote Chios internationally through targeted actions, such as the recent presentation in Italy.
Additionally, he highlights the importance of bicycles as a means of transportation and a tool for promoting sustainable tourism. He emphasizes efforts to raise awareness among locals for better knowledge and promotion of the island and mentions the success of international events like the volleyball tournament with Turkey.
