Awarding of the “Bike Friendly Destination” Certification Mark to the Municipality of Kos
The Municipality of Kos invites you to a special event on Friday, April 15, at 12:00, in the Municipal Council Hall, for the awarding of the “Bike Friendly Destination” Certification Mark to the Municipality of Kos, recognizing it as a cyclist-friendly destination.
The “Bike Friendly Destination” Certification Mark is awarded by the non-profit organization NatTour, in collaboration with the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment & Energy.
This certification confirms that a destination meets a set of Europe-wide accepted criteria that establish a “cycling identity” and facilitate tourists in using bicycles during their vacations. It promotes cycling in the area as a form of exercise, entertainment, and transportation, while positioning the Municipality of Kos as a destination for alternative and thematic tourism.
The certification of Kos’ cycling services and infrastructure makes the island a friendly place and a destination for cycling.
The network of “Bike Friendly Destinations” in Greece consists of selected locations that stand out for their commitment to environmental protection, efforts toward sustainable tourism development, and dedication to serving cyclist-tourists.
All necessary measures and health and safety protocols, as outlined by the National Public Health Organization, will be in place at the event.
