Leros was certified as the first island in Greece to be Bike Friendly, receiving the Bike Friendly Destination label under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Leros is an island of lush green hills, fresh water springs, untouched Mediterranean forests, and is also known as the island of Artemis, the goddess of hunting. The green plains of oak, eucalyptus, and pine trees stretch down to the sea. The peaceful and serene landscape, combined with the island’s climate, offers rest and relaxation for both body and soul to those who visit.
“For mountain bike enthusiasts, the island’s unique terrain makes Leros an important destination for this sport, offering incredible routes with varying levels of difficulty, delivering a thrilling and unforgettable experience,” said Mayor Michalis Kolias of Leros in a statement to ANA-MPA.
