The "Bike Friendly" organized its 5th networking event to promote cycling tourism, foster collaboration among Network members, and facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences. The event highlighted valuable practices and discussed actions for the further promotion of the Network.
To promote cycling tourism and strengthen collaboration among its members, the “Bike Friendly” label organized its fifth networking event, inviting its members and partners to an event aimed at developing relationships, exchanging ideas, and enhancing cooperation among its network. The event took place online on March 12, 2024.
The keynote speaker, Mr. Christos Petreas, a scientific collaborator of the “Bike Friendly” label, presented his research on cycling tourism in Greece, highlighting its benefits and growth prospects.
Following the keynote, members of the “Bike Friendly” network had the opportunity to interact, share opinions and experiences, discuss ways to enhance their cycling services, upgrade their cycling equipment, and explore potential collaborations.
Representatives of Municipalities-Destinations shared their efforts to promote the cycling identity of their destinations, the cycling culture of their citizens, and other factors such as the further enhancement of cycling infrastructure, which are key to establishing and boosting cycling tourism within their geographic boundaries.
Representatives from cycling companies and travel agencies presented their programs designed to cater to cyclists in the areas where they operate, as well as innovative initiatives and organized cycling tours in collaboration with hotel operators.
Hotel representatives shared their experiences in serving cycling visitors, their insights into the needs of cyclists, and how they provide safer and higher-quality cycling services, often in collaboration with cycling companies and travel agencies.
The “Bike Friendly” label also introduced new initiatives aimed at developing cycling tourism in Greece and promoting its network members.
Finally, during the event, prospects for further promoting the network both within Greece and abroad were discussed.
